"It has been so much fun taking part in making the OADV Christmas album. When it was announced that all classes would be involved in making a Christmas album, I started writing a song for my Year 4 class where I am a TA, and another song for the Year 4 class next door. My class (Walliams) was very enthusiastic about it and when we started practicing, Ms. Naylor and I couldn’t believe our ears; everyone sounded absolutely beautiful! After having practised for a week, including some singing lessons and choir technique, it sounded even better! We did solo auditions and every single child in the class sounded good (which made choosing the solo’s very hard). Recording day was so much fun and a great experience for all the children.
Walking through the school around that time was delightful. Christmas songs could be heard from every classroom and it really lifted our spirits. I led practise- and recording sessions in several classes which I loved doing! At one point, during a practise session, I asked a child on the spot if he wanted to sing a solo. He said yes and sang beautifully while the whole class was listening silently. He showed me so much courage in that moment. It’s amazing how hard times like this pandemic really bring out the best in people and that our unity can’t be stopped. I just want to say a big well done to all classes who have been practicing so hard. Thank you for singing your hearts out!"
